KENT “SKIP” SWALLA, Owner/Trainer/Instructor
Kent Swalla, best known as “Skip,” was born and raised in Newton, IA, where he started riding at a young age with his mother, and knew growing up that this was what he wanted. He and his wife Stacey reside in Columbia, MO, where they own and operate Glendale Stables LLC.
Skip is a USEF Large R judge in the Saddlebred, Saddle Seat, Roadster, Hackney, Morgan and Friesian divisions. Skip has been honored to have judged many local, regional and national shows over the course of his career, including both the Saddlebred World’s Championship and Morgan World Grand National Horse Show in 2013, the Morgan World Grand National again in 2015, as well as the 2019 Saddlebred World’s Championship.
He has been a member of the USEF, UPHA, ASHA, AHHS, ARHPA and MHSA, and is currently a licensed USEF judge for the Saddlebred, Hackney, Morgan, Roadster and Equitation divisions. Skip also serves on the UPHA's Equitation Committee and the USEF Saddle Seat World Cup Committee and is honored to have coached and judged both the U.S. Saddle Seat World Cup and U.S. Young Riders events.
Skip and his wife Stacey married in 1994. Stacey, part of a team of realtors with a local brokerage in Columbia, enjoys spending her spare time showing her Saddlebred, Morgan and Hackneys under the direction of Glendale Stables LLC.
AUSTIN HAZELWOOD, Trainer
Glendale Stables LLC is pleased to welcome Austin Hazelwood as trainer. Austin began riding horses at the age of three under the instruction of his aunt, Lori Ingram. Whether he was mucking stalls or getting horses ready, the Danville, VA native has always had a love and passion for the sport.
After graduating from Danville Community College with an A.A.S. degree in Business Administration, Austin began pursuing his career in the Saddlebred industry, where he has had the privilege of working many wonderful horses. His favorite show memory was winning the Five-Gaited Junior Mare Class at The World’s Championship Horse Show in 2019. Austin is excited to join the Glendale Stables team, where he will work many more wonderful horses as he continues to follow his dreams.
KAYCE REINER, Asst. Trainer/Riding Instructor
Kayce Reiner grew up in Escondido, CA, and began taking riding lessons at Miller Equestrian at the age of five. Kayce was always involved in the barn’s lesson program and summer camps, often riding in demos or teaching other kids important things about horses. She started teaching lessons as a sophomore in high school and has since graduated from the Equine Science Program at William Woods University.
The Morgan Grand National will always be Kayce’s favorite horse show but Louisville is a very close second. Her favorite show memory is winning the MO/KAN Show Pleasure class at the 2019 American Royal with Harlem’s Flower Girl. Kayce is excited to start the next chapter in her career, working for Glendale Stables LLC.
